What To Wear To Disneyland
I feel like there are two types of people in the world. People who love Disneyland… and people who REALLY love Disneyland (except Bryce… he doesn’t have a choice). And honestly, I’m in the first group...I don't live and breathe Disney. I just love seeing my kids so excited!! I do love walking through the gates, smelling the churros and popcorn, and seeing the castle. You honestly cannot be mad while you are at Disneyland. Whether it’s your first trip with the kids or your fifteenth trip, visiting Disneyland just hits different.
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that your outfit can totally set the tone for your day. Disneyland is a theme park where you’re walking a ton, standing in long wait times, hopping on rides like Pirates of the Caribbean or Indiana Jones, and taking about a million photos. Matching the Disneyland park vibe with your outfit somehow makes the experience feel even more special and magical. So today I’m sharing a full roundup of outfit ideas that are cute, comfy, and actually make sense for a full trip to Disneyland.
What To Wear To Disneyland
Knowing the vibe at Disneyland can make picking outfits so much easier. This post is here to help you feel prepared, confident, and komfy while still feeling put together. I’m sharing what works best for long days in the theme park, what to expect crowd-wise, and outfit ideas you can plan ahead based on the time of year you’re going. Whether you’re heading to Disneyland Park, California Adventure, or doing both in one day, these outfits are tried and true.
What Is Disneyland Like
Disneyland is magical, but it’s also busy. It can get crowded, especially during weekends, holidays, and summer months. You’ll likely be walking miles, standing in lines for popular Disney attractions, and bouncing between lands like Galaxy’s Edge, Small World, and the bayou adventure area near Pirates of the Caribbean.
Wait times can vary a lot depending on the day, but rides like Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars Galaxy or Indiana Jones almost always have longer lines. The vibe is happy, energetic, and fast-paced, but still relaxed enough that people-watching and soaking it all in is half the fun. Comfort is key, but Disneyland gives me a reason to do my thang…. and by thang… I mean twinning with my entire fam!!
I’ll be honest, the last couple of times we’ve gone to Disneyland, we’ve used The Guide. It saves so much time and pretty much guarantees we get on every single ride we want. It is definitely pricey, but if you’re going with a bigger family or want to maximize your day, it can be so worth the money.
What To Wear In Disneyland
What To Wear To Disneyland In Spring
Spring is one of my favorite times for a trip to Disneyland. The weather is usually mild, but mornings and nights can be chilly.
Casual Graphic Tee and leggings
A classic graphic tee paired with leggings, biker shorts or jean shorts. I love a Disney-inspired tee or something neutral that still feels fun. Pair it with comfy sneakers and a lightweight jacket you can tie around your waist once it warms up. Add a crossbody bag so your hands are free for snacks and rides.
What To Wear To Disneyland In Summer
Summer at Disneyland is hot, crowded, and full of long days, but it’s also so fun.
TShirt and Denim Shorts
This is a Disneyland staple for a reason. A breathable t- shirt or tank top with high-waisted denim shorts keeps you cool while still being cute. Make sure your shorts aren’t too tight since you’ll be sitting and walking all day. If you need shoe inspo, I linked my full guide on what shoes to wear with shorts here: https://www.kristahorton.com/blog/what-shoes-to-wear-with-shorts
Add a baseball cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen, and you’re good to go.
What To Wear To Disneyland In Fall
Fall is another great time for visiting Disneyland, especially when decorations start going up.
Oversized Sweatshirt and Leggings
This is my go-to for fall trips. An oversized sweatshirt paired with leggings is comfy, cozy, and perfect for cooler mornings. Sneakers are non-negotiable here, and a belt bag keeps everything easy and hands-free.
Flannel and Jeans
A flannel layered over a tank with jeans feels very Disneyland in the fall. You can tie the flannel around your waist during the day and throw it on once it cools off. This works great for long nights riding Small World or walking through the park after dark.
What To Wear To Disneyland In Winter
Winter weather can be unpredictable, but layering is your best friend.
Puffer Jacket or Crewneck and Comfortable Pants
A lightweight puffer jacket and some comfy pants (like my fav Walmart ones!!) keep you warm without feeling bulky, which is key for long winter days at Disneyland. I always recommend sticking to neutral colors so everything mixes and matches easily, especially if you’re packing light.
This is the kind of outfit that works all day long, from chilly mornings to nighttime fireworks. I’d personally pair it with my adidas Gazelles or Sambas since they’re cute but still comfortable enough to handle all the walking.
Sweatshirt and Leggings with Sneakers
Let’s be honest, if this isn’t my everyday outfit… I don’t know what is. I live in an oversized crewneck, leggings, and my New Balance 9060s probably five days out of the week. It’s comfy, it’s practical, and it just works for a full Disneyland day.
There are so many cute Disney sweatshirts on Etsy that instantly make this outfit feel more festive without trying too hard. Even in the winter, Disneyland can feel warm during the day but get really chilly once the sun goes down, so this outfit is honestly perfect. Pair it with sneakers, a belt bag or a crossbody, and you’re set from rope drop to fireworks.
Can You Wear Costumes To Disneyland
I had to research this. Our kids have worn costumes but that was years ago. Adults generally can’t wear full costumes at Disneyland, but kids can. For adults, Disney bounding is the way to go. That means using colors and accessories inspired by characters without wearing an actual costume. Think subtle nods to Star Wars Galaxy, Walt Disney classics, or your favorite Disney attractions. Unless you are going too the Oogie Boogie bash!! Then adults and kids can absolutely wear their most festive costumes.
